AndrOpen Office 4.7.1 Released - Support for Accessing to SD card

AndrOpen Office version 4.7.1 is released.

Support for accessing to SD card via ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE. (Android 7+)

The older version supports accessing to SD card only via SAF (the Storage Access Framework).

The newest version supports not only SAF but also via ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE.

Please note this is supported from Android 7+.

Available to preview each font styles in font selection.

The newest version supports previewing each font styles and you can select fonts by WYSIWYG.

Upgrade target API level to 29.

AndrOpen Office version 4.6.0 is released.

Improved PDF Import by replacing to PDFium

AndrOpen Office has been supported PDF Import as an extension for a long time.

But that has some issues especially performance because of the license.

The PDF Import depends on Poppler library and its license is GPL.

So to avoid the license in OpenOffice, the PDF Import program and OpenOffice program are separated by system process.

Because of separating processes, the performance is very bad.

I have started the project for PDF Import replacing to PDFium library, the BSD 3-clause license, from the Poppler library.

At first, I finished the replacing in iOS version, Office 700.

And now, I finished the replacing in Android version, AndrOpen Office.

Performance Benchmark

I have tested the performance benchmark between Poppler version and PDFium version as below, and the result is improved 10x in the loading time!

Target: Loading time of book.pdf

Device: Pixel 3a, Android 10

• PDF Import with Popper library ... avg. 68.44 sec.
• PDF Import with PDFium library ... avg. 6.69 sec.

The PDFium version is already preinstalled in the latest version and you never have to install PDF Import extension as previous version.

How to restore the Professional Version License

The Professional Version includes following functions:

1. Remove Ads
2. Access to Cloud Storages
3. Unlock some protected functions

The Professional Version is a permanent license for multiple devices and it's automatically installed to your devices.


Sometime it's impossible to install Professional Version for another devices even though you have already purchased.


If you can't install Professional Version, please try following steps.

Check your login account

At first, it's necessarily to login your device with the account which you bought Professional Version.


But if you already login with the account, please try next step.

Reinstall this app or Reboot you device

Almost cases, you can reinstall Professional Version by reinstalling or rebooting.

Clean Google Play app's data

If you still can't get Professional Version, it may Google Play app's cache data is invalid.
