AndrOpen Office 5.6.3 — Native Writer Dialogs and Better Word Tables

AndrOpen Office 5.6.3 continues the long-running work of replacing the desktop dialogs inherited from OpenOffice with native Android ones, and improves how Word tables survive a round trip.

📱 Native Dialogs for Writer

OpenOffice was built for a mouse and a large screen. Its dialogs work on a phone, but they were never designed for one — small targets, dense layouts, and controls that expect a cursor. Replacing them with native Android dialogs, one at a time, has been an ongoing effort across many releases.

5.6.3 brings native versions of the Writer dialogs you reach most often while laying out a document:

  • Page
  • Columns
  • Footnote
  • Text grid
  • Header and footer
  • Paragraph style and page style

They use real Android controls, so they scroll properly, respect your system theme, and are sized for a fingertip rather than a mouse pointer.

⌨️ A Smoother Keyboard

Single-line text fields in dialogs now show the keyboard's Done action, so you can confirm what you typed and dismiss the keyboard without reaching for the dialog's buttons.

📄 Better Word Tables

Tables are among the hardest things to carry between word processors intact. This release improves DOCX and DOC round-tripping for table width, margins, borders, alignment and background — so a document edited in AndrOpen Office and reopened in Word keeps the table layout you left it with.

🙏 Thank You

Thank you for using AndrOpen Office and for the reports that guide which dialog gets mobilized next. As always, AndrOpen Office works offline, needs no account, and asks for no unusual permissions.
